About this Item

Sheet music. 4to, pp. 7, including front. Cover printed in black, with a large picture of an elephant's head. Was bound with a collection of sheet music, date may have been cropped off. Slightly soiled, little offsetting, fold slightly ragged, o/w VG. Louis Jullien(1812-60) was a remarkable showman, composer, publisher, concert organiser who dominated music in the 1840's to the late 1850's. He mounted the concerts and wrote the music and played it first at Drury Lane and then at the Zoological Gardens and he sold the music! He was fortunate that the new Queen was very keen on dancing.
