Samuel Rockwell was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, settling afterwards in Massachusetts, where he became involved in local community affairs; was a teacher and writer of obituaries. Rubbing and wear along the edges of covers, corner tips rounded, small loss of leather lower edge of spine, rubbing/fading on marbled paper, foxing on end papers, small dampstain upper edge of first 8 pages; otherwise internally clean and unmarked.
