Cincinnati: Robert Clarke & Co., 1879, 75 pp. *** An early, scarce work on the Mound Builders of Ohio. The contents of the first chapter are from a paper that was read before the Historical and Philosophical Society of Ohio. This chapter was also published separately in another pamphlet. The second chapter is the sub-title of this volume, and is another paper. It was written for the Congress International des Americanistes, and was read before that body in Luxembourg, in September of 1877. Force also became known for his works on the American Civil War. *** Bound in light grey-green paper covers with very light wear and soil.
