A good two-page autograph letter from H.G. Wells to G.K. Chesterton, circa early 1900s. He writes, in full, "Dear G.K.C., Occasionally you are a tremendous swell. You are this morning in the Daily News. That and your Kings encounter and the perfect game of croquet are immortal things. I wish you would see Socialism as I see it. I come in and I help save a splendid idea from becoming a rotten little seditious saleable sect stuck in the flanks of progress. Yours ever, H.G. Wells". In very fine condition. In 1902, the Daily News gave Chesterton a weekly opinion column, in which, presumably his short piece about croquet, The Perfect Game, was published. He and Wells often engaged in friendly public disputes. 0.0. Bookseller Inventory #
