About this Item

Quarto. (4), (27)ff. One of 250 copies. Illustrated with three fold-out maps, one of which is printed in color, and two black & white plates. A collection of fifty-six specimens of Japanese handmade papers made in the Toyama Prefecture. The papers range from translucent to opaque, and some are dyed or incorporate fragments of natural materials to add texture. The samples are followed by text in Japanese describing the papermaking history of Toyama Prefecture, which has been home to several of Japan's major centers of papermaking. Stab-bound in pink wrappers that match some of the paper samples included in the book, and housed in a matching chemise with bone closures. A fine copy. Bookseller Inventory # 25048
