About this title

This book is the first published volume of the proceedings of the academic symposia held in conjunction with the museum exhibition entitled "Nomads: Masters of the Eurasian Steppe," jointly organized by the Institute of Ethnography, Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History. The exhibition was mounted in 1989 at three American museums: the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History, the Denver Museum of Natural History, and the Natural History Museum of the Smithsonian Institution. The late Professor Richard Feynman inspired and deeply influenced the exhibition and its research and papers and this book is dedicated to him.
