About the Author:

Stanley Ellin (1916-1986) was born in Brooklyn, New York, and educated at Brooklyn College. He worked as a teacher, a steelworked and a dairy farmer, and served in the US Army in World War 2, before becoming a full-time writer in 1946. His first published short story, 'The Speciality of the House' caused an immediate sensation and won him a special Ellery Queen Award. Store Description

About 1200 square feet in a cabin on seventy acres in the Texas Hill Country. About 1,400 volumes in stock at present. Heavily weighted on the Mystery side (about 52%) from Poe to James Sallis. There are about 170 Science Fiction & Horror titles (I favor the Grand Masters such as Clarke, Sturgeon, and Leiber) with some New Wave (Harlan Ellison and Sam Delany). And there are about 180 titles of Texana, for lack of a better word, in which I include Larry McMurtry and Kinky Friedman. Favorite book quote these days: "The crime novel is the great moral literature of our time."--Jean-Patrick Manchette.
