Printed by Alexander Moring of the De La More Press. NOT ex library. Specially bound in full leather by Frost & Co., Bath, England. Approximately 11.5 x 8.5 inches. Bound in medium blue morocco, with crisp gilt-stamped lettering, flourishes and rules to the spine, as well as rules to both boards. Hubbed spine to a handsome effect. Generally unbumped spine head and tail, and with fairly sharp corners. Note moderate abrasion at the corners of the spine head and tail. The front gutter also with moderate abrasion. Binding generally unsoiled and well-preserved, although the spine is lightly sunned, as is part of the front board. All in all a very attractive binding. T.E.G. Blue-gray paper pastedowns and FEPs and with strong hinges, notwithstanding that front gutter split the bottom two inches, not at all apparent. Text block firmly bound in. With [vi], iv, [viii], 176[ 2] pages. With steel engraved series title page, an engraved title page vignette of King Charles I, and decorated capitals. An exceptionally clean copy. A hint of age toning to all pages, quite minor. A Near Fine copy. The Eikon Basilike, The Pourtraicture of His Sacred Majestie in His Solitudes and Sufferings, is a purported spiritual autobiography attributed to King Charles I of England.
