About this title

Eighteen-year old Ejituru's dream of completing a medical degree in her own country of Nigeria and becoming a doctor is shattered when her father arranges a marriage between her and an older man named Ignatius who had emigrated to the Us some years ago and who she only met for a few hours. Ejituru's father hopes the marriage will bring him wealth and Ignatius' father believed the marriage is socially advantageous since it would align him with a socially prominent family in the community. Ignatius's deception threatens to unravel this carefully crafted union. Ejituru's journey reveals the cost of loyalty to culture and family and the strength of human spirit across two continents.
