This is the text volume only of the publisher's attempt to provide a lower cost American version of Bourgery and Jacob's "Atlas Of Anatomy". They only printed 20 plates out of the over 700 in the original French version. J. C. Comstock has translated the French text. There is no continual pagination - the text is divided into 20 explanatory sections on the plates. The pages are numbered 10 through 35 each with an average of 16 or so pages per section. The only library markings are 2 stamps (one a discard stamp) on the upper title page. The pages have varying degrees of foxing (some heavy) - else clean, crisp and tightly bound. It is bound (about 1900) in a 3/4 dark red leather with dark grey cloth boards. The front cover is detached and the spine is mostly chipped away. The endpapers date from the time of the rebinding. The publisher's notice states that the plates were printed on paper 24 inches by 36 inches with the figures being about 33 inches in height. The prices per plate are: Plain single copies - $1.25; Colored - $2.50; Plain Full Set of 20 Plates - $20.00 and a colored full set - $40.00. Bookseller Inventory #
