About this title

At Grindles School, together with his Human and Elvish friends, Kai braves shieking wraiths and finds a stolen treasure which had remained hidden for centuries in the depths of the labyrinth below the school.

If you’ve ever wondered why elves were created or who created them, find out, along with Kai, an orphaned boy who discovers that he is the son of The Elf King.

We follow Kai through exciting adventures as he searches for his heritage and undergoes many trials of character. He is beset by enemies in the form of dragons, trolls and humans. But he is protected and befriended by unicorns, elves, white owls, ghosts and humans (not to mention his own powerful father, the Elf king.)

The Elven characters add an exotic element to this mythic quest tale, and the down-to-earth qualities of the humans and half-humans balance the adventure with humor and practical action.

This is a timeless tale. It will appeal to readers of all ages – anyone who enjoys traveling to realms beyond the ordinary. In addition to Kai’s quest for his identity, there is a romantic sub-plot which will delight and tantalize you; dragons and dungeons to get your heart pumping, and fearies and unicorns to soothe your soul. A must-read for all!

About the Author:

Jude Hatcher Bangs, author of The Elf King and the growing series of sequels to this adventure story about the faery world, lives in a condo in Sarasota, Florida. But hers is no ordinary condo: it is a medieval environment, filled with antiques, relics and other objects of old-world charm. The very walls give off an aged feeling of long long ago. Entering the front door, one is transported back many centuries, by stone, plaster, beamed ceilings and old English furniture. Here, Jude writes her poetry and faery world novels. Jude's furnishings were collected over her 20 years as a vendor of antiques and collectibles, before she began her journey in the land of elves, enchanters, dragons and other faery folk.

Inspiration for her books came from a recurring childhood dream and an extraordinary man she met in England. This man – 6/5', lithe, "with the greenest eyes I'd ever seen" – can be recognized in the character of Valient, the elven king of her novels.

Asked if her books were for children, Bangs replied, "I believe my stories shall appeal to readers of any age who have imagination, a love for fantastic adventure and the faery world. There is a bit of romance and poetic cadence along with an Elvish boy's journey to discover who he is – he doesn't know he's a Elf, only learning about his heritage when he goes away to school."
