About the Author:

At thirteen years of age, Elizabeth Haidle wrote and illustrated ELMER THE GRUMP and won the 1988 NATIONAL WRITTEN & ILLUSTRATED BY...AWARDS CONTEST FOR STUDENTS in the 10 to 13 age category.

Elizabeth resides in Beaverton, Oregon, and since publication of ELMER has spoken to thousand of students in schools nationwide. She also received many scholarships and grants for college based on her artistic skills and achievements.

Elizabeth is now a professional illustrator and has illustrated many books in the Hewitt Early-Readers series and A Pocket Full of series for children.
