About this Item

This text is from a limited edition of 5,000 copies that were printed in 1881 and bound in full leather (Tan) with marbled end papers. A full page declaration on the back of the title page states , in reproduced handwriting, that it was printed in Edinburgh by permission of the original publishers. It is signed by Robert Smith, Editor; ASC Black, publishers, and Charles Scribner's Sons, importers. This edition is also known as the "scholars edition" . This copy is Volume 12, it is quite heavy and the hinge is torn although the book feels very solid. the tooled leather cover is frayed round the edges and their is a dark spot on the spine, however the cover face is lovely. I will be happy to send photos from my iphone upon request. Bookseller Inventory # 002832
