The dust jacket is worn and tattered, with tears to the extremities, chipping to the head-cap, etc. A small bookseller’s ticket is present on the inside front cover. Interior pages are clean. "In all some 2,300 superstitions are listed in this encyclopedia, a work of more than 230,000 words Side by side with British beliefs are instanced exactly similar beliefs held by totally unrelated groups of the human race " (from the dust jacket).
