About this title

Synopsis:

Recounts scandals involving deceit, bribery, sex, power-brokering, treason, espionage, murder, suicide, fraud, divorce cases, and famous trials

From Library Journal:

This guide to American scandals contains articles on both famous and obscure scandals drawn from politics, government, the military, business, religion, the arts, society, and sports. Subject descriptions and treatments are well written and balanced. Sources include newpapers, magazines, biographies, autobiographies, diaries, public records, and history books. While the work is informational and entertaining, it does have a few shortcomings. Varying in length from several paragraphs to several pages, entries lack bibliographic references; only some entries are cross-referenced. The lack of selection criteria diminishes the book's effectiveness. Nevertheless, libraries may still find this compilation useful since a similar resource does not exist. Recommended with reservations.
