About the Author:

George Blough Dintiman received his B.S. from Lock Haven University, M.S. from NYU, and Ed.D. from Columbia University. He is an internationally recognized authority on speed improvement for team sports, author of 51 books, four videos, and over 175 articles on speed, conditioning, fitness, nutrition, weight control, and health. He is President of the National Association of Speed and Explosion, a major certification body in speed and explosion for team sport coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, personal trainers, and others. As a running back and corner back, Dr. Dintiman set numerous football rushing and scoring records at Lock Haven University, breaking practically every record by the end of his senior year 1957 undefeated season, several still remain in 2012. He was a draft choice of the Baltimore Colts (NFL) and selection of the Montreal Alouettes (CFL), the leading scorer on the University basketball team scoring 42 points in a college and 56 in a high school game, and captained the Track Team competing in the 100-meter dash, high and low hurdles, and high jump. He was also an outside center on the Richmond Rugby Club for 9 years in the 70s. Dr. Dintiman served as head basketball coach at Inter American University of Puerto Rico from 1959-1965 (two undefeated teams, five league championships) and also coached a professional team, the Athleticos de San German; and formed and coached the First Intercollegiate Football Team in the history of Puerto Rico in 1964. He was also the head basketball coach at Southern Connecticut University and an administrator and professor at Virginia commonwealth University for 30 years. Dr. Dintiman has received numerous honors and awards and was recently inducted into the Inaugural Class of the Lock Haven University Football Hall of Fame in 2010, and the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Capital Area Chapter, in 1993. Bob Ward received his BA from Whitworth University, MS from University of Washington and a PED from Indiana University. He was an NAIA All-American in Football and a competitor for his college track team in the NAIA National Track and Field Meet in the Shot and Discus. As a Head Track Coach at Fullerton Community College, his team won the California State Championships in 1974. Coach Ward is best remembered for his position as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Sports Scientist for America's Team the Dallas Cowboys--a position he held for 14 years (1976-1989). His impressive coaching career with the Cowboys included 10 Winning Seasons, 2 Super Bowls, Championship in 1977-78, Super Bowl win in 1977, and a Pro Bowl Win in 1983. During his 14 years with the Cowboys, Ward completed extensive research with his athletes on predicting success in the NFL. Since leaving the Dallas Cowboys in 1989, Ward has consulted with NFL teams using the Computer Graphic Player Analysis Football (On-Field Analysis), served as the Director of Sports Science and Nutrition for Mannatech International (1994-2001), and Director of Sports Sciences for AdvoCare, also serving on their Sports Council (2001-2009). Ward currently works with the SPORTS SCIENCE NETWORK, and BLAZINGTHUNDER SPORTS (Robotic Machines-Assessment and Training in Sport and Health). Dr. Ward reentered Masters Track & Field competition in 1998, and has been World & USA Champion in the Throws Pentathlon (World Records 70-74 75-79), (75-79), Hammer Throw, Curl Squat, Outstanding Single Performance in 2003 -USATF Masters. In addition, he has received the following awards for his performance: Whitworth University Heritage Hall of Fame, USA Strength and Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame in 2003, CSCCa LEGEND AWARD 2008, and in 2009 was inducted into USATF Masters Hall of Fame.
