Title: Encylopedia of Biography of Minnesota; ...
Publisher: Chicago: Century Publishing and Engraving Company
Publication Date: 1900
Book Condition: Very Good
Dust Jacket Condition: No Jacket
497 p. The first 117 pages constitue a history of the state, with the remainder being biographies. There is a detailed table of contents to the history. The biographies are not alphabetical, but there is an alphabetical index to them. There are dozens if not hundreds of full-page steel- or copper-plate engravings printed on fine, heavy paper; each is protected by a tissue. This should be titled "Biography of Minnesota Men," as exactly two of the hundreds are of women (Mahala Pillsbury, wife of the governor, and Charlotte Ouisconsin Van Cleve, the first white child born in what became Minnesota). Embossed leatherette cover with gilt titles and decorations on front cover and spine; the front cover and front free endpaper are detached and the cover is scuffed at the extremities and there are some areas of scuffing elsewhere. The back hinge is firm. There is a charming bookplate inside the front cover. The interior is fine. The book is EXTREMELY heavy and extra postage wil be required; international shipping would be prohibitively expensive. Bookseller Inventory # 011716CF
