Inscribed and signed by Peter Beard on half title page with hand print in either red ink or blood with a thick red line brushed over the title. Inscription reads as follows: To the one + only Dave [line] Hog Ranch and beyond [line] all Best Peter Beard Box 47616. Good+ in good + dust jacket. Olive colored cloth covered boards with blind stamped title on front and spine. Fading along edges of covers and a light red marking (looks like the same red used on hand print) at the bottom of the spine. Binding tight. Two small black ink dots on front free end paper. Pages otherwise crisp clean and unmarked. Dust jacket has light fading along edges and spine and light bumping to edges. Price clipped. Now in an archival quality Brodart cover. NOT Ex-Library. From the Author:

Paul Theroux went to Africa as a teacher in 1963. He ran a school in Malawi, and then taught at Makerere University in Uganda, where he also worked as a journalist, traveling throughout East and Central Africa. He published three novels with African settings - Fong and the Indians, Girls at Play, and Jungle Lovers, as well as short stories. He is the author of many other novels and travel books, including Dark Star Safari: Overland from Cairo to Cape Town (2002).
