About this Item

Size of the photo-mechanical color reproduction of a watercolor: 8 1/8" x 11", mounted (by being pasted along the reverse of the top edge to the card), on an 11 3/4" x 16 1/8" sheet of cream colored paper card, with printed blue border around the print, and printed copyright notice (covered by the print), and this description printed on the back of the print: "An English 14-gun Revenue Cutter of 1815. These smart little vessels were used along the English Channel coast for the suppression of contraband trade. They averaged seventy-five feet in length on the deck and carried a crew of two officers and twenty men. With their tremendous sail spread they were capable of speed greater than any other craft then afloat, and in time of war were used as dispatch boats for the Navy". Lower left edge of the mounting card shows a small crease, slight dusting to back of card. Color print is in fine condition. Scan shows the color print, but not the entire card. This might have been part of a larger series of prints. Suitable for framing. Bookseller Inventory # ABE-218354068
