With 32 engraved plates including 4 outline plates, 2 text engravings. Quarter calf over marbled boards. The plates are very sharp even though the interior is quite browned, especially around the fore-edges. Title and first leaf repaired without loss of letters and the last advertisement leaf is chipped around the edges with no loss. From the library of Robert Briggs with his signature on title. Third edition. Bell (1763-1820) was the elder brother of Sir Charles Bell. He was one of the founders of modern surgery of the vascular system and known for his great medical illustrators.
