About this Item

Two volumes bound in one. Octavo in contemporary full calf ruled in gilt, raised hubs and spine ruled in gilt. (2) title, viii (preface), (1) list of authors and editions cited, 181 pp. and title + 176 pp. (2). No date on first volume, possibly the first edition of 1691 but just as possibly a third edition after 1713 (the second edition bore the date of 1713 on the title); second volume dated 1719 and also printed by Wyat and Robinson. Foxing to the endpapers, with a narrow strip torn from the upper corner of the front free endpaper, presumably an old ownership signature; another ownership signature and notation dated 1763 as well as a third ownership signature (both members of the Adams family) dated 1798, both in the upper corner of the first blank. Some general embrowning and occasional scatted foxing. Binding firm, wear to edges and tips and rubbing to the spine strip. Bookseller Inventory # WE13514
