X, 232 pp. A travelogue of a trip undertaken by the author, Alexander William Kinglake, and Lord Pollington, in which they traveled to Syria, Palestine and Egypt. Kinglake describes the people, culture and surroundings, including the Dead Sea, the Sphinx, etc. Alexander Kinglake was an English travel writer and historian, best known for his multivolume work on the invasion of Crimea (see Wikipedia). GOOD+ condition. Some scuffing to the leather along the hinges. Minor fading and rubbing to the covers. Armorial bookplate of G.F. Lindsay present. Minor toning in the interior.
