About this Item

4to. [8],139,176pp. & plates. Brown cloth with gold lettering on spine in original photographic dust jacket. "In dedicating this ninth volume of the Eretz-Israel series to a unique scholar and most distinguished Honorary member of the Israel Exploration Society, the Executive Committee wishes to repay in part a debt of many years' standing to an individual who has unfailingly befriended scholarship in Israel. Professor Albright, that Nestor of Palestinology who has ventured so far abroad over the face of the ancient Near east, naturally has many more admirers than could possibly be accommodated within a single volume such as this. Accordingly, it was decided to select a representation of these - his colleagues of many years, his innumerable disciples and adherents - seeking to maintain a balance among the variegated fields in which he has toiled." Illustrated with b/w photographic reproductions, maps, drawings and two fold-out charts. Tail of spine bumped, affecting pages throughout. Text in English, Hebrew, and some French. Cloth near bottom of spine creased. Top corners bumped affecting pages throughout. Tearing, creasing, staining and chipping on dj. Offsetting from previously present tape on bottom inside corner on back of dj. Dust jacket in poor, book in fair to good condition. Bookseller Inventory # 26713
