About this Item

Pp 217-429. One-quarter black cloth over brown marbled boards, 8vo. This work was designed as a complete review of the world's herpetofaunas; it provided the first natural arrangement of the genera undertaken for amphibians and reptiles. This single part of volume 9 presents the taxonomic summaries for the chelonians, geckos, iguanas and other lizards, ophidians and batrachians. As this work is only part of volume 9, a typewritten title page to the whole volume has been bound in place. The original owner of this work was the French herpetologist H. E. Sauvage; it bears his name stamp and signature on the half-title. Later the volume is from the research library of herpetologist Kevin W. Marx with his signature on the front endpaper. It is very unusual to find a single volume of this rare set offered for sale. Faint foxing to the half title page only; a tight and clean copy in near fine condition. Bookseller Inventory # 5974
