About this Item

Yes, this 350 page tome is the undisputed classic on the lifestyles, morals, religion, and evem the sport among the Eskimos of Greenland. Renowned polar explorer Nansen describes nearly all aspects of Eskimo life ranging from kayaking and hunting walrus to the holiest of holy marriage customs. Additionally, this single volume is extremely well illustrated, in the original dark green cloth with bright gilt spine titles and gilt kayak vignette on spine. Plus a wonderful vignette of a mighty eskimo hunter thrusting a tribal harpoon at an oversized bullish walrus. And this book is rock solid tight and clean, AAA save for mild corner and spine-end bumps and a half inch tear in the cloth at the top of the front spine hinge. A must have for the student of northern exposure. Hirschfeld Galleries' offerings such as this one which take on a life of their own and speak so very loudly for themselves. Read to learn and enjoy; go forth to share and enjoin. Research, analysis, dissertation, lucubrations or just enjoyment, this is the one. ACTUAL BOOK FOR SALE PICTURED.
