Ren� Binet (1866-1911) a r�alis� la Porte monumentale, place de la Concorde, pour l Exposition universelle de 1900 � Paris,et la reconstruction des magasins du Printemps. Dans son magistral ouvrage "Esquisses d�coratives", il expose sa d�marche inspir�e du "Trait� des couleurs" de Goethe et des travaux du biologiste allemand Ernst Haeckel.
