Among the chief writers of this collection of essays and poetry were H. N. Coleridge, Sidney Walker, C. H. Townshend, and John Moultrie, who describes Praed in his 'Dream of Life'. Praed signed his articles as 'Peregrine Courtenay,' the imaginary president of the 'King of Clubs,' supposed to conduct the paper. Fascicules 1, 4 and 5 are first edition; fascicules 2 and 3 are stated second edition on their title page.Binding rubbed along spine and edges, with title label mostly chipped. Contemporary previous owner's sporadic annotation throughout (not affecting lettering). Black stain at lower corner of pages from page 341 on (not affecting lettering). Binding in overall good-, interior in good to very good condition. * The forefathers of the Booth family extend far back into ancient lore to the time of William the Conqueror in 1066. The Coat of Arms featured on inside of front board was granted and created in 1690 for Henry Booth - Lord Delamer 1st Earl of Warrington - byKing William lll. First edition (1, 4 and 5); second edition (2 and 3). Bookseller Inventory #
