About this title

"Etudes Electric" was composed in response to a need for original electric guitar literature. Selections from this volume may be performed in an applied music jury or recital in a university guitar program. The etudes are motivically intertwined and make a complete composition when performed in order. The pieces can however be performed singly or in any combination. The pieces appear twice in this edition-once in standard notation alone, and once with standard notation with rhythmic tablature. A recording of each piece is available as an internet download.

Bach for Electric Guitar", "Christmas Music for Electric Guitar" and "Mozart for Electric Guitar" as well as "Etudes Electric", a series of modern electric guitar studies. His sextet was selected as the winner of the 2000 Brown New Music composition competition at Brown University where it was performed in the spring of 2001. "Hexenbrau for electric guitar and orchestra" was commissioned by the Baytown Symphony Orchestra for their 2001 Halloween concert with the composer as soloist. "Ritmica for Eight Percussionists" was awarded the graduate prize of the 2001 Louisa Stude Sarofim Composition Competition. The piece was also featured on N.P.R.'s Theme and Variations radio program.
