Synopsis: Eve Arnold didn't even consider photography until a boyfriend gave her a Rolleicord when she was 34. But her talent and daring brought her immediate recognition and she was picked up by Magnum Photos only 5 years later. Arnold may be best known for her black and white images of Marilyn Monroe, but she has chronicled figures as diverse as migrant potato workers and heads of state in addition to screen icons during her assignments, which involved everything from politics, social issues, travel, to current events and a little glamour. Guided by her own words, this volume features Arnold's now iconic photographs as well as many never-before published images.

About the Author: Eve Arnold is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and a member of Magnum since 1955. In 1995 she was elected Master Photographer, the world's most prestigious photographic honor, by New York's International Center of Photography. The author of a number of books, including "Film Journal "(Bloomsbury, 2002), she lives in London.

Book Description teNeues, Kempen, 2012. Hardback, dust jacket. 216 pages. Approx. 150 duotone & 10 colour illustrations. 1.45kg. English. Fine; as new. 'Eve Arnold's interest in photography started late with a photo-finishing job in New York City in 1946. A member of Magnum Photos, her list of assignments were a mix of politics, social issues, travel, and current events, with a little glamour thrown in. Arnold is perhaps best known for her images of Marilyn Monroe. She has chronicled figures as diverse as migrant potato workers, heads of state, and screen icons. A blend of exacting technique and moral courage would typify her long career which never settled for clichés or stereotypes. Book Description teNeues Publishing UK Ltd. Hardback. Book Condition: new. BRAND NEW, Eve Arnold, All About Eve, Eve Arnold, This is a fascinating insight into the life and works of Eve Arnold, with many personal accounts and a vivid history of her work shown through her photography. Eve Arnold is an American photojournalist. She joined Magnum Photos agency in 1951, and became a full member in 1957. Her interest in becoming a photographer began in 1946, when she worked for a photo-finishing plant in New York City. She briefly learned photographic skills in 1948 from Harper's Bazaar art director Alexei Brodovitch. She may be best known for her images of actress Marilyn Monroe on the set of Monroe's last (1961) film, "The Misfits", but she took many photos of Monroe from 1951 onwards. Arnold photographed Queen Elizabeth II, Malcolm X, and Joan Crawford, and also traveled around the world, photographing in China, Russia, South Africa and Afghanistan. Arnold left the United States in the early 1960s moving to England, which eventually became her adopted home. In England, while working for the UK "Sunday Times", she began to seriously use colour as a medium for photography. In her adopted homeland, she was later appointed a member of the Advisory Committee of the National Media Museum formerly the Museum of Photography, Film & Television in Bradford in 1997.
