About this Item

Stack of material about 4cm. high (1 1/2"). The material belonged to Ernest W. Williams, Jr. a transportation professor at Columbia who had some involvement with this company, possibly as a consultant or Board member. Quite a bit of the material consists of copies of exhibits sent to Pennsylvania Railroad representatives in 1957. Letters from company executives forwarding the exhibits are dated 1958 as is the batch of carbon copies of correspondence from Akron, Canton & Youngstown Railroad Company executives. Almost everything is letter-sized (28cm.). The company seems to have been involved in trying to build and operate conveyor systems to move coal to Lake Erie ports and iron ore from Lake Erie ports to steel mills. Some of the material indicates that the scheme was dependent on conveyor belt operators being recognized as common carriers and given the power of eminent domain under Ohio law.
