About this Item

#4167 - "An Existentialist Aesthetic" by Eugene F. Kaelin. Very Good H/B 1967 1st-1st - no markings - no dj. In the foreword, the author discuses two well-known names - that of Sartre and Merleu-Ponty. He states that the two philosophers have been going down two complementary blind alleys. Sartre, who tends to make human consciousness a creative function in constant danger of escaping into an unreal world, is incapable of differentiating between image and sensation, while Merleau- Ponty explains the relation between perception and reflection or judgment. Book is divided into two major parts - Part 1 - Jean-Paul Sartre and Part 2 - Maurice Merleau-Ponty. Appendix; Bibliography, Index and 66 pages of notes. Bookseller Inventory # 004167
