About this Item

Brown, blind stamped covers with title in gold on spine, covers lightly scuffed and very edge worn, front cover detached, spine missing large pieces at ends and two loose pieces reattached, first few signatures and last section detached, foxing, internally fair. Margaret Woods was the eldest daughter of Samuel and Grizell Hoare and lived at Stoke Newington, near London. She was married to Joseph Woods in the spring of 1769 and died in 1821, a little more than a week after writing the last entry in this journal. Although some entries tell about her activities, most are spiritual or devotional pieces, prayers, and remarks on some of her readings. Smith II:957. Bookseller Inventory # 054922
