"The world of Warhammer began as a tabletop board game created by Bryan Ansell, Richard Halliwell, and Rick Priestley that was first published by Games Workshop in 1983. The high-fantasy setting centered around miniature figurines would become immensely popular and grow into a media empire spanning video games, novels, and more. This 'celestial' map comes from the science fiction companion; titled Warhammer: 40,000, the slogan for which is "In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war." It was issued by Games Workshop, Ltd. in 2003 to accompany the 'Eye of Terror' campaign. Players from across the world submitted their individual party results online, facilitating a larger battle between the forces of Chaos and the Imperium. Numerous different star systems are shown, with diagrams of their respective sectors and additional information about the various planets. Cadia, a critical piece in the defenses of the Imperium of Man, is presented in the lower center."
