About this Item

272 pgs. Not only is this book beautifully illustrated by one of the Victorian Era's favorite children's illustrators, it is also the only copy printed by this publisher that I could find! I believe that this is a first American Edition, as no other copyright dates are mentioned. HC book has red boards with a full-color pastedown illustration on the fc by C. A. Federere, red title font. Spine has black font and illustration, and book is in VERY GOOD Shape. Pastedown is tight and firm, with only the mildest indication of shelf rubbing, no chips, repairs, or other damage. Front cover corners are lightly bumped, as are spine ends Not worn through, but lower spine end is starting to split (1/8"). RC shows average shelf wear and a couple of white spots. Decorated eps have po name inside fc, page edges are starting to discolor. No foxing of any kind in text. Front hinge has been stretched, but is still holding strong, rear hinge is fine. Tight, clean, and square, with a mild old book smell. Absolutely displays quite well! Book has been opened flat in several places, but the binding is still tight and strong with no indication of weakness or tearing. No DJ. One of the most beloved and enduring collections of classic fairy tales of all time! This is one of the rarest and most collectible illustrators as well. All seven full-color illustrated plates are fully intact and present. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Bookseller Inventory # 001266
