Book Description Two leaves, the first the agreement to form a company to publish FANTASY MAGAZINE, the second a financial statement for FANTASY MAGAZINE, 4 December 1935 though 31 January 1936. The circulation of the January 1936 issue of FANTASY MAGAZINE was 197 copies of which 147 were paid for and 52 were complimentary copies. The agreement calls for a future print run of 500 copies and stipulates that William L. Crawford, the printer/distributor, "is to be paid at least $13 for each issue." Following the publication of September 1935 issue, the third anniversary number, the magazine's printer, Conrad H. Ruppert could no longer subsidize it and a new printer, William L. Crawford, was employed to print and distribute FANTASY MAGAZINE. According to fan historian Sam Moskowitz, "the terms of the agreement were never made public." They are detailed in the offered documents. The September 1936 issue, the fifty-page fourth anniversary issue, despite the outstanding content and circulation of 2000 copies (most of which were complimentary copies sent to members of the Science Fiction League), did little to increase the paid subscriber base -- which stood at barely 200. One more issue, dated January 1937, was published before it was combined with SCIENCE-FICTION CORRESPONDENT. See Moskowitz, The Immortal Storm, pp. 74-7. Fine condition. (#155717).
