About this title
Many therapists find themselves faced with the challenge of treating clients diagnosed with fibromyalgia syndrome. Fibromyalgia syndrome is a chronic, systemic condition characterized by muscle pain and tender/trigger points. Since little is known about the etiology of this syndrome, it is often difficult and frustrating for therapists to treat.
Kathryn Stogner Henderson has written Fibromyalgia Syndrome to teach you techniques that can help clients reduce pain and increase functioning. This comprehensive guide is the only resource available to date that addresses physical therapy management for clients with fibromyalgia. Based on her many years of experience treating this population, Ms. Henderson presents fully illustrated physical therapy techniques that are easily modified to meet each client's individual needs.
By applying the material presented in Fibromyalgia Syndrome and drawing upon your own knowledge and clinical experience, you'll be able to more effectively assist your clients with fibromyalgia and improve their quality of life.

In 1985, Ms. Henderson joined the physical therapy staff at SportsMed and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation in Carol Stream, Illinois. She took on additional responsibilities in 1992 as a consultant on disability assessment for MedEval Corporation in Lombard, Illinois. This interest led her to attend the first national seminar on Fibrositis/Fibromyalgia in Columbus, Ohio, in April 1990. In June of that year, Ms. Henderson helped establish a fibromyalgia support group in DuPage County, Illinois, and co-chaired the group for several years. She remains the primary contact person.
