About this Item

6 1/4 x 9 3/4 in. 628 pgs. Black buckram with gilt lettering on cover and spine. On copyright pg it is stated ; 'First Published May, 1939' (first printing). On DJ, on upper right front flap, it reads ' 'First Regular Edition, $5.00'. Comes with pamphlet, 'Corrections of Misprints in FINNEGANS WAKE by James Joyce, as Prepared by the Author after Publication of the First Edition'. Published in 1945 by the Viking Press. The pamphlet is 16 pgs of errata, has some faint browning to cover, but is otherwise excellent. Condition of the book is VERY GOOD+ ; corners just ever so slightly worn, no shelf wear to edges, covers extremely clean, binding tight, text impeccable. Previous owner, prof Victor Lange's, bookplate on front pastedown. An extremely good, clean and fresh copy of this great work. DJ condition is GOOD+ ; not price-clipped ($5.00), long closed tear to front spine, smaller front lower foldover, numerous small open tears to edges and chipping, ditto on back, spine faded, somewhat darkened overall, but scarce in a DJ, and this one, carefully preserved in a new Mylar wrapper is still pretty nice. A monument of a book. RGR. Bookseller Inventory # 23831
