1890 HC, 779 printed pages, a historical novel of Poland and Russia by the author of world famous "Quo Vadis", from the Mastai Collection - stamp on title page, book in green cloth with eagle on red field and golden crown. Title and author on spine in stamped gold. the book is tight and clean, paper clippings of the time - one by General W. T. Sherman from 1891 argueing over the quotation " The pen is mightier than the sword". There is also an envelope filled with clippings referring to the author around that time attached to the back free endpaper.The edges are dusty, the covers has minor wear and one light spot.
