SIGNED BY HASSLER on the front free endpaper as follows: "Best wishes to Jim. | Jon Hassler | 12.2.77" 8vo. (22 cm.) [8]9-117[3]p. About the Author on the next to the last page. Green paper over boards with darker green letters on the spine. Black and white photo of the author on the rear dust jacket turn-in. Ever so slightly faded around the edges of the boards as is usual with green (!), just hints of wear to extremities, boards clean, letters bright, else fine with no internal markings. Dust jacket has s couple of minor dings but is not price-clipped. Born in Minneapolis, Jon Hassler was an American writer and teacher known for his novels about small-town life in Minnesota. Educated at the University of South Dakota and St. John's University, Hassler taught high school English for ten years before joining the faculty at Bemidji State University. In 1970, while teaching at Brainerd Community College, Hassler began to write fiction. In 1980 he became writer-in-residence at Saint John's University and later was named Regent's Professor. He remained there until his retirement in 1997. Hassler was a nationally respected author of novels, plays and nonfiction and is considered one of the most insightful, entertaining and authentic voices of Minnesota.
