Probable first edition. 12mo. x, 148p. Frontispiece b/w photo of Higgins plus seven full-page b/w photos, mostly of various logging operations in Minnesota. Also illustrated with woodblock headpieces. Green pictorial cloth with green letters. This copy is from the library of Robert Thomason, Covina, California, and bears his bookplate. Higgins (b. 1865) was a Presbyterian minister who took as his "parish" the lumberjacks of Minnesota and is known as the "Lumberjack's Pilot". His story first appeared in "The Parish of the Pines, The Story of Frank Higgins, the Lumberjack's Pilot", which was also written by Whittles. Very minor wear to extremities, pencil mark down gutters of spine, previous owner's bookplate, front hinge cracked at title page, else Vg+/ No jacket. Bookseller Inventory # 03793
