About this Item

[SIXTIES: THE FUGS]. (SANDERS, Ed). THE FUGS' SONGBOOK! [Cover title]. (Prepared by Ed Sanders, Ken Weaver & Betsy Klein. Notes on Fugs by Ed Sanders). [originally printed in 1965, in New York, at Peace Eye Bookstore; the first Artists' Workshop Press edition was printed by Floyd Lawton, in September 1966]-- "Printed in an edition of 500 copies by Ron Levine at the Artists' Workshop Press, Detroit, in April, 1968. This is the 5th printing" (so stated on the colophon). Quarto, tan pictorial wrappers printed in green, pp. [ii], 27, [i](colophon), mimeographed leaves (printed in green, on rectos only, on beige and pink paper), stapled. Contributions by Ed Sanders, Tuli Kupferberg, Lionel Goldbart, Ken Weaver et al. A scarce publication; 'The Fugs' Songbook' was issued in five printings, between 1965 and 1968, all of which are uncommon [no holding of this "5th printing," published at The Artists' Workshop Press, is located by OCLC]. Few offset rust marks at upper edge of front cover, very light wear on spine, else a very good copy of a fragile item, with text pages fresh and clean. 1968 Artists' Workshop Press re-issue, stating "5th printing" on colophon leaf, limited to 500 copies.
