About this Item

Boxed collection of prints. Archival box with reinforced metal corners, title label on the top. Contains two entire suites of prints, with folders, introduction, prospectus and original packaging. Large folded introduction: Face to Face. Twelve contemporary American Artists interpret themselves in a limited edition of original wood engravings. Fred Becker, Jack Coughlin, John DelPol, Fritz Eichenberg, Raymond Gloecker, James Grashow, Judith Jaidinger, Stefan Martin, Michael McCurdy, Barry Moser, Gillian Tyler, Herbert Waters. With an introduction by Leonard Baskin and a dedication print by Lynd Ward. Single page introduction by Baskin, with additional notes by McCurdy and Hauser. Printed by Howard McGrath. Colophon describes the elaborate production of this collection, which was strictly limited to 250 copies of which 200 were for sale. Each artist received 20 artists proofs. It also states that all the rest were marked 'out of series.' This set is not numbered or marked 'out of series.' They were offered in a handmade wooden box, but evidently very few were actually sold as sets in the basswood box. This set is in an archival box with a label on it, but not the wooden box. All 13 prints are present, in stiff paper folders, printed with information on the artist. The prints are all striking, black and white, and signed by the artist (except Lynd Ward). They are not numbered. In addition to all 13 prints in individual folders, there is a folder with an additional suite of prints on different paper. They are all signed, as well (except Lynd Ward). In addition, the original prospectus is here, both the folding black & white one and the sepia-printed one. All are in very good condition (no flaws to mention at all). In addition to the box, there are stiff white boards sandwiching the collection of prints. The topmost board has a title label/sticker on it. Please email with questions or to request photos. All the language used above can be simplified to: collection of original, signed wood engravings in archival box, all in excellent condition. Extra shipping will be required to ship is safely. Measures 13 x 17 x 1.5 inches. Bookseller Inventory # Fred-W1024
