About this title

Synopsis:

There is a lion that stalks many believers, threatening to rip them from the comforting arms of God and tear their faith to shreds. It comes in the form of an incurable disability or long-term illness and tries to breed hopelessness and despair. With great honesty and perception on some of the raw edges of human experience, "Facing the Lion" brings to life the battles people face when suffering from the stalking lion of an insidious illness. The author demonstrates how a person may be wasting away outwardly yet being renewed inwardly day by day, and how God’s power is made perfect in weakness.

About the Author:

Pamela Vack was born in the lovely island of Jersey, situated off the north coast of France. It was there that she lived for the first ten years of her life, during which she experienced severe deprivation, and near starvation under the German occupation of 1940-1945.

Through various life struggles she and her husband finally come to a deep faith in God and are immediately tested with business failure and near financial ruin. She has a sixth sense about impending trouble but determines to trust God for whatever happens, concluding that “it is in the deepest valleys that the sweetest fruit grows.”

Through years of suffering with an unknown disease and over 14 years of testing and searching, Pamela is finally diagnosed with atypical Motor Neuron disease. The inspiration for her book was gleaned through the lessons of the many years of suffering. She is able to count it all as a blessing and discovers how to be inwardly renewed despite the difficulties of physical disabilities.

Pamela and her husband of 30 years, Hector, now live in Highcliffe Dorset, a picturesque area near the southern coast of England.
