Book Description Boston & Chicago: Congregational Sunday-School and Publishing Society., 1890. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Decorative red cloth. 16mo. 390pp. No dust jacket. Illustrated. A curious novel about an Eastern family who sell their Vermont farm and move out West, to settle on railroad land. At first things go well for George Marston but the value of his railroad bonds soon diminish and he takes to drink. The family is saved when Aunt Jennie comes out West to pay their bills and tutor their son Harry. Harry grows up to be a cattle rancher and successful Western entrepeneur, finding religion along the way. The book is illustrated with various engravings of cowboys, horses, stagecoaches and other Western scenes. A very good copy with some light spotting and wear to the covers. The text is very good with some foxing and spotting to the endsheets and some of the pages. The front hinge is split but still firm. Bookseller Inventory # 4490
