Full dark brown smooth calf, the covers with a double gilt rule, blind-stamped floral patterns in the corners, and a large central oval design showing a globe, a quill pen, an hourglass, and books, with a ribbon reading "Prix Institution de Mme Okill", spine gilt tooled over the tapes, a.e.g. Presentation inscription on the front endpaper reads "Presented to Miss Maria Campbell of the 4th class for general improvement and for remaining until the close of school. M. Okill. July 20th 1845". A binding with the same prize stamp, and the ticket of George M. Champley, in the collection of the American Antiquarian Society is pictured in Early American Bookbindings from the Collection of Michael Papantonio, Worcester, 1985, pl. 41.
