Autobiographical account of the author?s early life and struggles in Argentina before he became a British subject. R.B. Cunninghame Graham's touching introduction enhances the emotional impact of these boyhood memories of the Pampas, as do => Ra?l Rosarivo's 32 full-page lithographs and frontispiece portrait of the author. With its text set in monotype Deepdene and printed on Swedish handmade paper, this was limited to 1500 copies, signed by the illustrator and the designer, Alberto Kraft. This is copy 1134. Binding: Spine and covers with smooth cream-colored rawhide on upper portion and hide retaining hair on lower portion, cover sections and board edges laced with rawhide thongs; cover "branded" with title and spine with an "H." The "endpapers" are a rich suede in natural tan color. Tall 8vo. Frontis., xiv pp., f., 306 pp., ff.; 32 plts. Limited Editions Club, Bibliography of the Fine Books Published by the Limited Editions Club, 1929?1985, 152. Light creasing of joints (outside) of the upper portion, and hide with hairy bits abraded away in spots. Paper age-toned, as common; two plates with moderate spotting/foxing notably to versos, less (and mostly marginal) to rectos. As so often, without the slipcase. Very good condition.
