He has written numerous books on aviation and was a consultant and writer for the Time-Life Epic of Flight series. Chronicles the golden age of aviation from the perspective of the dual goals of speed and distance, describing the airplane's practical advances: first regarded primarily as a novelty, it gained recognition as an effective tool of war and finally, as an accepted vehicle for public transportation.
