About this Item

Together with E. H. Wilmot's Journal of the Pioneer Survey of the Lake Manapouri Dusky Sound Area. Wellington: A. H. & A. W. Reed, (1950). Octavo, hardcover, cloth, in a dust wrapper. 192 pages, illustrated. Dust wrapper chipped but intact. Binding is slightly cocked from leaning. A very good copy of the First Edition. Thrilling adventures exploring remote parts of New Zealand, with a good dose of history thrown in. This particular trip took Reed and his nephew through the rain forests of the West Coast of Otago, from Lake Manapouri to Supper Cove at the head of Dusky Sound, an area traversed by only a handful of white men in its entire history. Includes in full E. H. Wilmot's diary of the pioneer survey of the region at the end of the nineteenth century. Bookseller Inventory # 6710
