Oblong quarto (10 1/16 x 13 3/4 in; 255 x 350 mm). Hand-colored aquatint title-page (unsigned) and twelve hand-colored aquatint plates imprinted "Designed and Etch't by D.T. Egerton," with two of the plates watermarked 1835). No text, as issued.Bound in later half brown crushed morocco over brown cloth boards. Raised bands, Gilt lettered and ornamented compartments. All edges gilt. Rebacked with the original spine laid down.Rollicking and rare social spoof by Egerton. This is the variant issue with the imprint of "Thomas McLean" on the title-page and on plates. Both the Abbey and Colas collations (copies in boards) agree with the above: engraved title plus twelve plates. Variant of the W. Sams issue of the same year in Thos. McLean imprinted wrappers recorded by Abbey. Curiously, these plates were later issued in an ever rarer compilation entitled The Melange of Humour (n.d.) along with plates by Henry Alken and others.The Aquatints:1. The Silent Rebuke.2.
