Two volumes: 198, 208 pages. The first American edition of the first book by Carleton, the author of Traits and Stories of the Irish Peasantry. The first volume of this set is comprised of Carleton's short stories set in Ireland; the second volume offers short stories by Hood, including The Three Jewels. Carleton's book is quite scarce in any early edition. First American edition (first printing). In the publisher's original cloth and plain paper-covered boards. Both volumes stained with previous owner's markings. Hood volume title writting in ink on spine; outer corners of that volume clipped.
